No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved quickly, what the process looks like, and what happens if you do not qualify.
A growing number of carriers now use accelerated underwriting. For applicants in a certain age and amount range, they make a decision based on your application, what is in their pharmacy records, your driving record, and similar sources—no paramedic visit. Some cases are decided within hours; others take a couple of days. Each quote here will tell you if an exam is required, might be needed, or not needed for that particular product.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no underwriting. The carrier still verifies what you said, and if the policy is issued and later the carrier discovers your answers were wrong, it can challenge the policy within the first two years. If the data the carrier already has turns up red flags, it might still request an exam or labs—and you can choose at that point whether to go ahead.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, you qualify if you are under about 60, asking for coverage within the carrier's limit, have a clean health history, and have not used tobacco for a year or longer. If you have had a recent doctor visit that included blood work, many carriers will use those results instead of requiring a new exam.
If an exam is needed, it is typically a short visit (20 to 30 minutes) with a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Atwater area, and there is no charge to you. Good exam results can bump you into a better rate class if you are in good health, so an exam is not necessarily a negative.
